/1310/2003 Archived Entry: "All the News that's new and approved..."

Okay, so I'm aware I haven't written anything for a while (and to be honest, that's literal, I haven't written anything - apart from a couple of letters to friends in New Zealand and Australia and the odd email). However, partly to due to some not-so-subtle hinting from certain parties (thank you Roger), I've decided to add something today. Well, that and the fact that I have a couple of items of news.

The biggest news (well, maybe not biggest, but the first news) is that I got a phone call on Friday evening. It was from Athens in Georgia. REM HQ were asking if I wanted to go and see them play on Thursday afternoon. After roughly half a second I said that yes I did. So, I'm rather looking forward to that... Candy is going as well, which is going to be her first time away from Max for any significant length of time. Hopefully, she'll not be too distracted to be unable to enjoy the jig.

The other thing that happened this weekend was that Candy and I got engaged. We'd sort of decided that we were going to get married anyway and, when we went to Camden Market (for two reasons - firstly to buy a rocking chair, which we did and very nice it is as well and secondlt to get complete Candy's birthday present by getting her a replacement ring to replace the one she lost.) Whilst looking at the rings, she saw a second one that she liked and I said, "well, we'll get that one and call it an engagement ring." And she said, "Okay." So we did. The wedding is going to be in the latter half of next year (ideally when Quentin and Marion are over here from New Zealand) when we are back in Newcastle, but we haven't set any firm dates yet.
