Notes From The Journey

It's Friday afternoon and I really can't be bothered. But them, neither can anyone else, so that's okay.
I got a cd of Neil Gaiman's Two Plays for Voices, which are audio plays of a couple of his short stories. I listened to the first one - Snow Glass Apples as I walked to work this morning (have I mentioned how much I love my MP3 player?) and it's rather marvellous. It's a re-telling of Snow White from the point of view of the queen. And, in this version, Snow White is not a delicate, innocent, sweet little girl. The story never comes out and says what she is - although it is made extremely obvious - but she has totally white skin (as of someone who never goes out in the sunlight...) and blood red lips... It's rather a chilling little tale, but beautifully done.
The other one is Murder Mysteries, a tale of murder in heaven, which has been adapted into a film, but hasn't yet got a company to make it. (Have a look here for, well, not much more info than this really, except for the name of the person who adapted it. Which is
David Goyer, who also wrote Blade, Blade 2 and Dark City, as well as writing some really good comic books - he co-wrote part of Starman and also JSA - although for some reason C&G blocks this site, so I can't look at it...) I also discovered a very nice website, which has lots of very nice Dave McKean artwork, even if it is a bit small. Have a look, it's rather lovely.

I have re-vamped the 'gallery' section of Ellen's pages. It has lots of new pictures on there, taken earlier this week. I think I look pretty good in them (she said modestly...) Anyway, have a look...

Over the last few days I've had some nice highs and some not nice lows.
On Saturday, I went out in London dressed for the first time. I went with some girls from Transvision - the mailing list I subscribe to - to the two major TG clubs - Way Out and Trans-Mission. If you look at the photos for the 1st Feb on the Trans-Mission site, you should be able to find a pic of me and some other girls from Transvision. It was fun, on the whole. The music was pretty bloody awful, but it was an excuse to go out. I didn't like Way Out very much - no atmosphere and everyone desperately trying to out-glam everyone else. Too much attitude and not enough fun. Trans-Mission was better - and about two minutes from where C&G, which is an interesting coincidence.Sunday was a day of recovery, really - after all, getting to bed at 4am is something I haven't done for a very long while and I'm really not used to it.
Monday, I was off work sick. Mainly due to the fact that, annoyingly, I couldn't actually sleep on Sunday night. There were elements of the whole rhinitis thing in there as well, and I think I could have gone into work if it was one thing or the other, but not both. Damn.
However, I did manage to put my digital camera to good use on Monday evening and got myself all dressed up and had a bit of a fashion shoot. I haven't put any of the pics online yet, but I will do. As well as the picture from the Trans-Mission site. Fun!
I've just discovered a link to a web-page about murals in Angouleme. I have to go there. Soon...
